Welcome to Yoga with Dreena!
If you follow me on facebook or instagram, you’ll know that I completed my YTT200 program early in December.
Here I am with the group and our main instructor (extraordinaire!) Lauren Roegele. I feel blessed to have completed training with Lauren and the other instructors and to have made deep connections with this beautiful, inspiring group of women.

The program involved far more than the ‘technical’ part of yoga which I was expecting.
While we learned about anatomy and asanas (the poses), we explored things like restorative yoga, philosophy, history, pregnancy yoga, meditation, and breathwork.
The training also tapped into emotional aspects for everyone involved, especially when we worked on our philosophy art project.
We were asked to come up with our own mantra, and represent it in some way. They weren’t expecting any fancy art project. Still, when it was announced I said “ugh. I didn’t sign up for art“.
While I have an artistic side, art projects are not my thing. I’m not a crafty mom, don’t knit or sew, or even have a proper good glue gun! So, I cringed at the thought of presenting an art project.

I am worth the space I take and the air I breathe
When all was said and done, I actually printed off my art design larger than I initially presented, so that I could frame it properly where I do yoga. Here it’s with some special mementos from the class.
Now, when I started yoga training I wasn’t sure I’d begin teaching. I had posted about yoga at home and created my Yoga with Dreena channel, but still had doubts.
Today I post my intro video, sharing more about why I’ve created Yoga with Dreena and what I want to share with you, including:
- time-accessible videos: most will be around 30 minutes so you can more easily find time to bring yoga into your day
- yoga classes that are inclusive, and bring joy into movement along with strength, flexibility, breathing, and some meditation
- giving wrists a break! I explain in my video!
Now, please tell me what you’d also like to see in online classes!
Watch my short video, and share a comment – here .
See you on the mat soon… x Dreena

Thank you Dreena. I am 62 and have never taken a yoga class but have wanted to. I really like the idea of learning from you and doing it at home.
Dreena says
Oh wonderful, I’m excited you are inclined to learn at home – ‘see’ you soon!

I have also had a knee replacement and have been advised to go gently with the yoga. Kneeling is still tricky.
The short 30 minute is a good idea.
Technically you have a lovely gentle voice but it was hard to hear you on my tabletat times even turned up full volume. Sometimes your voice would drop or your word pace would speed up at the end of a sentence. Could you project your voice more and use your voice with more equal volume/ pace and /or use a more acute microphone which could provide a voice with more volume? Not sure what the technical need would be?
Dreena says
Hi Lynn, great to know, and thanks about the volume feedback. I noticed it was low after recording as well. I’m looking into a microphone for the videos – or I will tape without speaking, then voice-over after. Cheers!

Hi Dreena, thanks for this. Iโm excited to see if you can inspire the yogi in me as you have the vegan! Iโd really like to see lots of different styles of yoga, as having tried a variety of the online yoga teachers, I fell in love with Adrienneโs style and so usually do her daily practice, but I have a nagging feeling that I should try other styles. Iโd also be really grateful if you could do some videos for those with ankle injuries as Iโve been suffering from Achilles Tendinitis for many weeks and so am wary of over stretching in that area. Anyway v excited to see your yoga channel. Best of luck with it and hope itโs fun and rewarding for you too!

How lovely to know, thank you Fiona! I will put on my thinking cap for that – it’s a great idea!
Hilary says
Some chair yoga would be great and also yoga for backs. Thank you!
Dreena says
Excellent idea, thanks Hilary!

I love that you’re starting a yoga channel! The 30-minute intervals is appealing to me for sure. I also like Vinyasa Flow because I like the constant movement and how each pose moves into the next. I always appreciate any guidance in making sure my alignment and poses are correct (harder to do online, but perhaps just voice guidance). Thanks and I look forward to watching!

Appreciate the feedback, thank you Danielle!
