Are oil-free salad dressings possible? Can they taste great?
Yes! Finally, my oil-free salad dressings ebook is here! I’ve talked about this ebook in past posts. After creating quite a number of delicious dressings and sauces for my books and blog, I wanted to devote time to an entire collection of unique oil-free salad dressings recipes.
This ebook contains 10 new recipes along with 1 bonus blog recipe, for a total of 11 vegan, oil-free, and mostly nut-free dressings.
These dressings are nutrient-rich, using whole plant foods like vegetables, fruits, beans, seeds, and nuts for flavor and texture. Recipes include:
24 ‘Carrot’ Gold Dressing nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free
Basic Chia Vinaigrette nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free
Limealicious Vinaigrette nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free
Greek Salad Vinaigrette nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free
Ranch Dressing nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free (tho soy/nut milk preferred)
Lemon-Thyme Caper Dressing soy-free, gluten-free
Green Goddess Dressing nut-free option, soy-free, gluten-free
Creamy Nut-Free Caesar Dressing nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free (tho soy milk preferred)
Balsamic-Date Vinaigrette nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free
Vegan Island Dressing soy-free, gluten-free
Maple Chipotle Chickpea Dressing bonus nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free
There is also a section on ingredient notes for ingredients, and another section with tips on kitchen tools.
These oil-free salad dressings will work on more than salads. They can be used to drizzle on mains and side dishes. The photos and notes will give you some inspiration to rev up your daily salads, salad bowls, and just about any plant-based meal. Boost flavor with nutrient density with these plant-powered dressings!
I could not have pulled off this project without the help of my testers (Eve, Cintia, Christine, Susan, Michelle, Carrie, Sarah, Natalie, and Tami) – heartfelt thanks for your help and continued support. Also many thanks to Ashley Flitter, Laura Bashar for template design, Christina Xamin for design assistance, and of course Nicole Axworthy for the stunning food photos throughout this ebook.

This is the ebook that keeps on giving! I’ve made many of them and loved them. The Basic Chia Vinaigrette was yesterday’s creation. I poured it over a mixed potato/sweet potato salad, yum!
Dreena
Hi Sherri, thank you for sharing this. It’s always great to know recipes are getting mileage – thanks!
sandeep rana
I like this oil free vegan salad dressings, looks very different.thanks for sharing these types of recipes.
Paul
Do these recipes contain salt?
Dreena
sea salt, yes, but that’s something you can omit if you need to do so
Susan George
Great and amazing recipes for oil free toppings of salad. I would also like to add vinegar top it.
Sandra
Hi Dreena,
I purchased the bundle on Jan 1st, but wasn’t able to download due to problems with my network connection. Once the problem once resolved, I discovered that the download links had expired. I’ve attempted to email you regarding this issue a couple of times over the past few months, but haven’t received a reply. Hopefully this comment makes it to you! Would it be possible to re-send the download links so that I might access the ebooks that I purchased?
Thanks!
Nancy Fleming
My link expired as well. Just discovered it when setting up my new computer. I requested an updated link by email. Hope I get a quick response.
Dreena
Hi Nancy, please zip me an email: dreenaburton@gmail.com – not a problem to resend
Henrike
Hi Dreena.
I’d like to buy the eBook but I can’t find it on iBooks – and Kindle says this eBook cannot be purchased on their app, either. Could it be a “country problem” (I’m from Germany)?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards from abroad, Henrike
Dreena
Hi Henrike, thanks for asking. I’m not sure what’s going on with the kindle app – it’s in the kindle store so it should be available. But if you’re ordering via amazon Germany, that could be the issue. As for ibooks, you can save the pdf file to your ibooks after downloading. Hopefully that helps. Thanks.
Randy
Hi Deena,
I don’t do the Kindle thing and was wondering if I could just purchase the salad dressing recipes in a non-kindle form. Thank you.
Dreena
Hi Randy, yes, you can. If you order through my site, you’ll receive a pdf which can be saved/printed. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/2gqA7a5

Tree nuts are so incredibly nutrient-rich; I can’t imagine a dressing book excluding these valuable proteins……can’t the ppl w allergies just be aware of the ingredients & choose wisely?
-pls include; cashew/almond/pecan/walnut Butters & Oils in a future Dressings e-book
Dreena
they are, and there are 2 dressings (and an optional 3rd) with tree nuts, but some of the other dressings utilize other plant foods like seeds which are also very rich in nutrients (and higher in protein than nuts). Plus the vinaigrettes which won’t include nuts because of foundation of the recipe. I try to offer nut-free options because it’s not that simple to just substitute one seed vs another, they have different flavor and texture profiles. Thanks for your question.
jim bly
Hi. I can understand the gluten and oil free but why nut free? Is this for those with nut allergies or is there a health issue for everybody? Thanks and keep up your great work. Jim
Dreena
Hi Jim, mostly for allergy issues. Many readers have cashew or almond allergies, and these nuts (especially cashews) are often used in salad dressings. Thanks for the good words.
Veganpossum
Hi Dreena, I want to purchase both, but would like to know how central sweeteners are in the dressing recipes. I have a family member avoiding sugars for a medical condition, so would like to be able to adapt or use most of the recipes. Thank you!
Natalie Collins
Hi! If I remember correctly, there are no refined sugars in the recipes, but other ingredients such as maple syrup or dates are used for sweetness. I hope this answers your question!
Dreena
the sweeteners used are dates and pure maple syrup (often just a little to balance flavors). Hope that helps.
Vegan Heaven
All these dressings look so delicious! And they’re oil-free – even better. 🙂
Dreena
thanks!
Nicole Dawson
Great job Dreena! Looks like an awesome collection.
Dreena
thanks much, Nicole
Judy
I purchased both E books but only the PP15 downloaded and can’t find a link to download dressings again without making a purchase
Thanks
Dreena
I’ll check and send you the link – that’s odd!
Karen
Hi Dreena, It may be my setup, but I can’t get Paypal to load properly from the cart link. It brings me to a screen where it says to click to login to my Paypal account, but this goes nowhere. It only leaves me the option to buy through credit card on same screen. Has anyone else had this problem? It may be my Kaspersky security, or a problem with Javascript. Not expecting you to troubleshoot that; just wondering if any one else reported this problem. Worst case, I can pay by credit or debit. Thanks! Sorry to be bothering you with these technical obstacles. I haven’t had a problem last two days using paypal links from other sites.
Dreena
Well, this is a new one Karen! 😉 I’m not sure, I’m thinking it might be the browser. Maybe try using safari if using chrome, or vice versa? Or try on another device? That’s my initial thought. I’ll see if I can find out anything else. If you get it trying those things, do let me know. (and sorry, I’m not super tech-y myself, but will see if I can find out more)
Jen Dewar
I’m a big fan of your other books and these two additions do not disappoint! I really appreciate your take on oil-free recipes; it can be hard to find good ones. Thanks so much!
Dreena
I really appreciate that, thank you Jen!
Patrice
Hello, I purchased both ebooks, but only the oil free dressings downloaded and I don’t know how to find a link without repurchasing
Dreena
I’ll resend the PP15 link to you – just shortly.
Cathy
Looks interesting, but I have to avoid nuts, due to my husband following the no nut Essylstyn diet. Can you please tell me if most of the recipes call for nuts? Thanks a lot.
Dreena
Hi Cathy, I’ve detailed the nut-free dressings in the post, just scroll up and look at the list of recipes. Thanks
Fred
I bought the combo but cannot get the dressings book to show up in ibooks or Kindle. Could you help me, please? Thanks.
Dreena
Hi Fred, it’s not in kindle version yet – I’ll be setting that up on amazon soon, so if you want to wait for that I can refund you and you can pick it up later. You should be able to open it in ibooks though. Sometimes downloading on ipad/iphone can be finicky. I will send you the code to try again, and if you still have troubles or want to pick up via amazon, just email me dreenaburton@gmail.com. Off to resend code to you now.
Fred
Never mind. It is there now. Thanks!
Dreena
terrific – thanks for letting me know!
Alisa Fleming
I have to admit, I make the same salad dressing almost every day. Time to branch out and this looks like the perfect way to do it!
Mel | Avirtualvegan.com
I love your book cover. It’s beautiful and the dressings all sound delicious. A good dressing really ‘makes’ a meal and to have a reliable source of them to refer to time and time again is great!
Dreena
Thank you Mel!
Kathy
My daughter is severely allergic to cashews. What do you think would be best substituted in your dressing recipes?
Dreena
Hi Kathy, there are only 2 recipes using cashews in the 11 recipes.
Dreena
and in those recipes, you could substitute an equal amount of soaked almonds with good results.
Rebecca Cody
I’ve seen recipes where macadamias could be substituted for cashews.
Dreena
Yes, they can work as well. They do tend to be slightly naturally sweeter and oilier, so I’d opt for a combo of macadamias with almonds if choosing them.
Janet
They sound great but I don’t do any sugar or flour, that includes agave and maple syrup. How many of your sauces and dressing utilize these ingredients?
Dreena
Hi Janet, most of the dressings use some maple syrup to balance flavor. You can always omit or sweeten as you prefer. I don’t use agave in the dressings. One dressing uses dates to sweeten.
Janet
Thanks Dreena. I love your recipes and will definitely get this one.
Sandra
Do they contain vinegar? I choke on vinegar and those are out for me. Also avoiding sugar, including natural sugar like maple syrup and others. Don’t do tofu or any other soy. So wondering how many of the recipes I could use if I bought the books.
Dreena
No tofu in any of the dressings, I’ve listed them as soy-free in the post. Yes, some have vinegar, as much dressings use vinegar. I use apple cider, balsamic, red wine vinegar. Some of the dressings use citrus. You can see my comment above about the sweeteners. Thanks.
Ruth
They look delicious. I am very interested, but do the nut free dressings use seeds instead? I can’t do nuts or seeds. If so, how many of them? Is the price listed in Canadian dollars?
Dreena
Hi Ruth, some of the recipes include tahini and one with pumpkin seeds. I just took a scan, and there are 5 recipes with tahini (including the one with pumpkin seeds). I’d say you could omit the tahini easily in 2 of these recipes. With the other 3, you could try a tablespoon or two of avocado for richness. I don’t use a lot – like 1-2 tbsp at most. It just adds some texture to (1) carry flavor and (2) add body to the dressing. Hope that helps.
Linda
Looks like a great collection of salad dressing! Thanks!
Dreena
thanks Linda!
Sue Ellen
It’s a lovely book! I made the ranch dressing last night. Delish!
Sophia | Veggies Don't Bite
This looks amazing and gorgeous!! What a great resource of go to healthy and easy dressings!
JoaNne
I used the link through the combo cart icon and still got the full price. How can I get the discount?
Dreena
The link should bring you to the cart showing $7.99 – that’s the combo price for both books. Make sense?
JoaNne
The link for the combo shows a price of $13.98, not $7.99.
JoaNne
I tried my other computer and the discount price shows up on that. Thanks–the recipes sound terrific!
Dreena
Good to know, that’s so odd, I suspect this might be happening with others as well. Thanks for the feedback, Joanne.
Becky Striepe
Oh my gosh, it looks like a beautiful book, Dreena!
Dreena
Thank you Becky!
Jenn
The sauce makes the meal!! They all sound so good. I’m especially loving the sound of the Maple Chipotle!!
Celine
How do we get the discount on the combo? They show up in the cart at full price.
Thank you.
Dreena
Hi Celine, if you link through on the combo cart icon, you should see a price of $7.99 – that’s the price for both ebooks together!
DEbbie
I did, but I’m not getting the $7.99 price either. Please let us know when the link is fixed. Thanks!
Dreena
Hi Debbie, that’s odd. Try again, remove anything from your cart (delete what might be there) and start again. There are orders for the $7.99 coming through, so it’s working. Could be a browser / refresh situation because the cart has ‘memory’ temporarily.
