“It’s not about being “Barbie Beautiful”, it never has been. It’s about looking in the mirror in the morning, at whatever age or stage of your life you’re in, and saying I love my skin.”
OCosmedics founder, Maria Enna-Cocciolone
This quote from the OCosmedics founder really spoke to me. It’s not easy to say that moving through my 40s I have felt sad about my changing skin. Hard to admit that, because it feels very vain, but I suspect many women feel the same. So I own my vulnerability to be able to share with you.
It seems our skin changes most noticeably after 40. At least it did for me, and women I’ve talked to feel the same way. In our thirties, we may see subtle changes but overall our skin is even keel. But once we turn 40, and especially 45… holy crow! Things change, and it feels like we are saying goodbye to that youthful, effortless part of ourselves – not just our skin.

I think for me it’s been particularly challenging because I feel so good eating plant-based. Most days I have to remind myself I’m not still 38.
Other than nagging tendonitis issues (20 years of cooking and writing books will do that to you), my energy is great. I exercise daily and feel good in my body.
But, have you ever had that moment when you catch yourself in a mirror and think “what? when did that happen?” I think any woman understand how this aging shift is hard, especially in our western culture. For many years I thought it was selfish and wasteful to invest in skincare.
But that’s changed – because I’ve changed. The past few years I’ve been doing a lot of personal growth work. Self-care of any kind isn’t selfish. It improves our confidence and enhances how we feel about ourselves. Why shouldn’t we want to look and feel our best?
If caring for your skin and looking your best helps you radiate in your world, it’s entirely worth it. In fact, it’s not that different than the care we give our bodies through exercise and eating organic and plant-based foods.
And what we eat is our most fundamental skincare. Eating a whole food plant-based diet will nourish your skin unlike any other diet.
For me, it’s not about trying to look ten years younger. I turn 50 this month, and I simply want to reflect how lively and happy I feel.

Guys, for real: I never imagined I’d love a skincare line this much.

Considering I’ve never had great results with any skincare, vegan or not, I wasn’t expecting much from this line.
Sure, I’ve used skincare that feels good – smells good – has great ingredients. But, in terms of noticeable, appreciable differences? Nada.

When Jacqueline from OCosmedics contacted me about this skincare, I almost dismissed it. I had tried a multi-level marketing vegan skincare and purchased others in stores and online, and ultimately I was disappointed.
I told Jacqueline that I would have to fully believe in, and love this product to share it with you. She understood and wanted me to give it a full trial.
Still, it sounded too good to be true. And skincare is a little out of my wheelhouse. Nevertheless, at the start of 2020 I owned change.
In short, I decided to give this a go!

Disclosure: This isn’t a paid post, but I have been using all of my OCosmedics products free of charge.
What is OCosmedics and how is it different?
OCosmedics originates out of Australia. It’s number one in clinics and spas there – because the products work and clients LOVE it.
OCosmedic products are medical strength (meaning they contain potent ingredients at the strongest concentration allowed). There are other lines of skincare that are medical grade – but not many vegan skincare products.
This is one of the things that makes OCosmedics stand out. The products work on a cellular level, creating change. Our skin becomes more resilient to the environment, as well as softening fine lines and wrinkles.
Hold up, folks. “softening fine lines and wrinkles”
We’ve heard that before, right? How many skincare products do you see that say “visible results in just 5 days!” Or some similar claim. I’ve always wondered who gets those results? Because nothing I have tried has shown visible results in a week or two weeks, or even a month.
OCosmedics: don’t expect overnight results
As their literature states: “No skincare range will give you flash in the pan results.” Therefore, don’t expect results overnight with OCosmedics.
But do expect results.
It takes more time to restore and build your skin than a week. Personally, I feel those testimonials on drugstore skincare brands come from the placebo effect. Skincare is just that – care. It’s not a quick fix, so we shouldn’t expect such immediate results.
But DO expect results with OCosmedics. Unlike other brands you’ve tried – vegan or not – these products have potent ingredients at concentrations that drugstore or department store lines simply do not have!
This was new information for me. I figured all skincare you might buy in drugstores were created (roughly) equal, and ditto for all spa or department store brands.
Not so. The spa and department store lines typically are not medical grade and so won’t have the impactful ingredients needed.
My OCosmedics Journey
Obviously I am loving the OCosmedic line, or I wouldn’t be posting about it.
When I started, I decided I would take bare-face, unedited photos throughout the process, in the same room in the same light. Here we go!
Month 1

Jacqueline started me on just a few core products. She explained that because OCosmedics has the highest percentage of active ingredients allowed, we would need to drip feed my skin slowly to make it fitter and stronger.

I started on the 3D hyuralonic serum, 3-in-1 exfoliating cleanser (most beautiful natural smell), the youth activating oil balm (my very favorite product!), immortal cream, and the gentle antioxident cleanser.

This lineup of products was more than I’ve ever had in a skincare routine! As I said, I’m new to a real skincare regimen. But I was surprised at how little product I needed. You need much less than you expect!

OCosmedics explains 3 things can happen when you begin the skincare:
- Your skin loves it immediately and you become an O addict.
- Your cells refute it. Your skin may flush, tingle and/or flake. Don’t panic, simply introduce the products slowly; this is a sign your cells are annoyed with you for making them “get back to work.”
- Your skin may look older – perfect! This means the underlying redundant cells have moved to the surface. An enzyme peel will reveal your new and amazing skin!
Your girl here landed in #dundunDUN… Group 3!
Yup, my skin looked older:

Not just older – my skin looked tired and dull.
Fortunately, Jacqueline checked in with me after this month to see if I could see visible changes. I said I thought my skin was looking “thicker” (as my skin has thinned in my 40s) but that was about it.
I sent her a photo and she said “we’re booking you in for a facial”. She explained that my skin needed a gentle peel to reveal the new skin cells.
Indeed. Take a look at this after:

Month 2
With my skin feeling quite renewed, Jacqueline introduced a couple of new products, including a retinol for night. She explained it needed to be combined with the immortal cream (which I love) and to use it just once a week to start, and then move to twice a week. The approach is very respectful to the skin’s tolerance and strength.
After this month, she brought me in for another peel. Now, the peels that Jacqueline used are only available through an esthetician. OCosmedics has some specific products only used in spas and clinics. Not to worry, though! You can use one OCosmedics’ 3-in-1 Fruit Peel Mask at home. It’s simply that the spa line can expedite the cell renewal process (and of course is an ‘experience’).
She kept commenting on how much more plump my skin was looking, and how much it was glowing. I saw it too, but there was more to come!

Month 3
Moving into this month I’m really noticing changes. Now I’m noticing less “stress” being held in my face. Softening of lines and tension areas. Strengthening of my skin. Brightening and enlivening of my skin!
My skin is once again showing how I feel: vibrant and happy!

But, I wasn’t the only one noticing the changes. During the summer I started some live cooking videos on facebook.
Never once did I mention skincare. Yet I had quite a few people mention I was glowing, and asked me to share what I use for skincare. So I am!
My most recent photo. I can see the differences, can you?

OCosmedics FAQ
Is OCosmedics only for anti-aging? Not at all. OCosmedics also helps skin conditions like acne (adult or teen) and rosacea. Also, I prefer to use the term revitalizing or rejuvenating to ‘anti-aging’.
Do the products contain any parabens or synthetic fragrances? No. OCosmedics doesn’t contain any parabens, petrochemicals, SLS, chemical fragrance, or synthetic fragrance or color.
Does OCosmedics test on animals? No, they never have and never will.
Are all the products vegan? The OCosmedics skincare products are vegan. Their 1skin foundations do contain beeswax, unfortunately. However, everything in their skincare line is fully vegan, and also their 1SKIN luminising drops (love!) and Glow Booster drops are also fully vegan.
How can I afford these products? At first glance the products seem pricey. But, no more than department store lines, or vegan lines in health food stores. But, here’s the real deal truth: You don’t need as much of the product as you think you do. This might be the hardest adjustment using OCosmedics. The product is so effective and so potent, you need far less than you think. Most of the products will last you 3-4 months. The exfoliators up to 9 months! If you are going through the product more quickly than you are likely using too much.
Do I need to consult with an esthetician or buy from a salon? Even though these products have been sold in salons and clincs to date, OCosmedics has recently enabled online orders. Order through this link and you will connect directly with my friend Jacqueline. As well as being an esthetician and Reiki master, Jacqueline is a sincere, helpful, knowledgeable person. She wants the best for you with your skincare. She will not just shlep products at you, I can promise you that. Jacqueline will approach your skincare needs quite conservatively so you have the best experience. You can also contact a clinic near you that carries OCosmedics.
Can I use other skincare with OCosmedics? Please don’t. For the most comprehensive and best results, you should be following your regime using just your OCosmedics products. You won’t miss those few stray bottles or jars of existing skincare products in your bathroom, I can promise you that!
Do I have to use all of the OCosmedic products? No, connect with Jacqueline to discuss your skincare goals and needs. She will help you select the most important products, and does not want you to overconsume these products. The goal is for you to see results and use the products needed for your skin.
Dreena, you’re in Canada, so can I order if I live in the US (or anywhere else)? Yes you can! If you are in Canada, ordering is extremely easy. Just link through here and you are in direct contact with Jacqueline. You can send her a photo of your skin, ask her questions through the “chat” box, and then place your order. If you are in the US or anywhere else, you can still work with Jacqueline – just need to email her directly through this email: jackie@ocosmedics.ca. You can also reach out to a spa or clinic in your area that carries OCosmedics.

Friends, I truly hope you look into OCosmedics. I would not have posted about it if I didn’t completely love it myself. I have real results.
My skin looks fresher, brighter, more plump, more “alive”. Now when I look in the mirror, I truly do love my skin.
For more information, connect with Jacqueline here. One more thing before I sign off…!

Katie says
I have been emailing with Jaqueline and she is lovely. She recommended some products appropriate for my skin type and I ordered them, and I can’t wait to try them out! She did tell me that the free Youth Balm was probably not going to work with my skin and was gracious enough to substitute out a better product for me ❤️ Thanks for the recommendation!!
Sheryl Greenberg says
When I click for Jacqueline’s email, I get a blank page. I tried to order online but was told that they would not mail to the states. Can Jacqueline email me?
Thank you
Dreena says
Hi Sheryl, sorry for those tech troubles – yes, I’ll send along your email to Jackie!
Kristen Leroux says
So happy you had such great results! I’ve never heard of this line, and am so excited to hear about more vegan cruelty-free brands. I’ve been using Arbonne products for just over 12 years now (face, body, makeup, baby, even nutrition), and yes I do have a business with it, and am in love with my skin at almost 54! Also vegan and cruelty-free, and a list of over 2000 ingredients not allowed in the formulas. You look great!!
Dreena says
Hi Kristen, thank you for your note. That’s awesome to have built a business with your sincare for over a decade. I’ve used Arbonne in the past as well, and greatly appreciate that they are vegan and cruelty-free. Thanks for the compliment as well.
Mary Enright-Olson says
I’ve emailed Jacqueline – yet not had a reply. Very interested.
Dreena says
Hi Mary, I know she was on the road today, so is a little behind on emails. She will surely get back to you tomorrow. Thanks for the note (and also for your readership/viewership)! ❤️
Angie S says
Thank you for sharing your experience with OCosmedics. Your review of the product and the obvious benefits are very convincing. I’ve signed up for a consult tomorrow with Jacqueline and am very excited to speak to her about recommendations for my own skincare. Truly appreciate you letting in on your secret 🙂
Dreena says
Wonderful, thank you Angie 🙂
Dreena says
Hi Angie, that’s wonderful. You will enjoy connecting with her. 🙂
Sasha says
Thank you for your honest review. I believe you. As you confessed, you’re a newbie to skin care. But I assure you that there are plenty of options, even vegan ones, even medical grade ones, that are much cheaper than this. Some brands such as the Canadian one, The Ordinary, require considerable knowledge on the part of the user but are extremely affordable & many of them vegan. If you invest even a bit of time researching Korean brands, you will again find plenty that are vegan, effective, and way cheaper than OCosmedics. Any serious skincare junkie will tell you that Korean & Japanese products are much superior than most that you can find in the West.
I’m not casting any aspersions on you, Dreena. I trust you completely & I adore your work. This comment isn’t meant to offend or disrespect you. But your readers need to know that they have many more affordable & equally effective options.
Warm Regards,
Sasha
Dreena says
Hi Sasha, thank you for your comment and warm words about my work.
I don’t take this personally and will let Jacqueline add her thoughts about this as well, since she is an esthetician.
Interestingly, just before trying OCosmedics my middle daughter asked to purchase The Ordinary. We ordered a number of products and I tried them as well. I didn’t have any results, but that was my experience. It seemed complicated to me when ordering, trying to determine which products were the ones to use, and then the bottles we received were quite small. I know they are a popular brand.
To clarify, I’m new to a full skincare regime, but not new to skincare products. That I should have made more clear in my post.
I do not know much about Korean skincare. I do love supporting a company that is operating here in Canada and that really care about their customers.
Thanks again, I always welcome opinions when given in a considerate manner. Thanks for doing so.
Dreena says
Hi again Sasha, I am adding another note on behalf of OCosmedics. Not to spark an argument or to dismiss your opinion. This is to help provide more information for my readers that are really interested in the OCosmedics line.
———————
“Thank you for reaching out. Skincare is not new to the CEO (creator) and the Chemists at O. Cosmedical skincare is based on functional actives, that means it uses the actives in their most active dose plus sophisticated delivery systems.
Other brands work on a lower price range based on per kilo price for their ingredients (which is reflected in the quality of the ingredients). The ingredients are not containing a multitude of active ingredients at the highest percentages that are proven to change the skin. These brands are fine for younger skin, to start a skincare regime. However, as skin ages these formulas are not adequate to age-proof the skin.
In addition to being vegan and medical grade, OCosmedics contains pure and clean ingredients from suppliers that commit to blue and green technology practices.
Everyone’s priorities and budget allocations are different. We respect that. There is something out there for everyone. Most of our products last 4 months (some 6 months or more) and therefore provide exceptional value.” -OCosmedics

Again, thank you for addressing concerns that other might also have. I use this feedback myself to improve my own communications in my posts and videos. -Dreena
michelle hales says
Hi what skincare ranges would you consider if in mid 50’s
Dreena says

I can’t wait to try OCosmedics Hydra-Plus Sleep-in!
Dreena says
Yay! It’s truly luxurious – you’ll love it, Barbara.
Mary E-O says
This looks very interesting. As always you do a very thorough job of verifying/testing. I’ll check them out.
Dreena says
thank you Mary, appreciate that
Jessica says
Thanks Dreena for that wonderful review of that skincare line. I’m really happy to discover that new vegan line.
Dreena says
Hi Jessica, I’m glad you are keen to look into it!
Vanessa Hill Ritthaler says
I’d like more information about the products, and if I could o my order one product to start what would it be?
Dreena says
Hi Vanessa, well I truly love the hyra plus sleep-in mask, and also the EGF Booster. Check in with Jacqueline to see what might be the best fit for you there! Enjoy 🙂
Anita says
Hi, Dreena:
Do they also have any makeup products, including mineral-based sunscreen?
Dreena says
Anita, they have foundations but they have beeswax – if that’s okay with you they have a beautiful line of foundations. They also have the luminising and glow drops which are GORGEOUS (and those are vegan). Sunscreen… hang tight on that. They do have an amazing sunscreen moisturizer but it’s not quite ready for release in Canada. If you email Jacqueline she can let you know more.
